A GREATCOMMUNITYMAKES A BETTER COFFEE

From bean to cup, Grinders is invested in a better coffee experience for everyone in our community, not just the person with the coffee in their hand. Quality to us goes beyond enjoying the great taste, we’re committed to sustainability right across our business.

CLIMATE

CARBON EMISSION REDUCTION

Our mission as a company is to decarbonise our business to reach net-zero emissions by 2040.

We are identifying and fast tracking the replacement of high energy coffee equipment in market, partnering with suppliers that can deliver a reduction in Co2 emissions.

By 2030, we are planning to reduce our transport emissions with the aim of our field sales and delivery services team only travelling to you in electric vehicles.

REPURPOSING

Since 2019, we have been in partnership with social enterprise, Reground to divert ground coffee and soft plastics from landfill by repurposing them into innovative, higher value resources.

Through this partnership we have saved ~ 2.5 tons of harmful greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere, kept ~ 1.3 tons of ground coffee out of landfill, that have instead been used to create healthy soil and grow nutritious food at Melbourne Zoo and in home and community gardens.

PACKAGING

RENEWABLE & COMPOSTABLE CUPS

Our mission is to have 100% of our primary packaging to be recyclable by end of 2025 and we are on track to achieve this.

Aqueous cups have a unique, water-based barrier coating that eliminates the need for the standard plastic inner-lining.

Pulp lids are made from white sugarcane pulp, a plant-based, 100% renewable alternative to the standard plastic lid.
Grinders aqueous cups are certified for home composting.

SUPPLY CHAIN

100% ETHICALLY SOURCED COFFEE

All of our coffee suppliers are screened via EcoVadis, a corporate social responsibility organisation that ensures coffee is sourced in an ethical and environmentally friendly way.

We are also a proud partner of the Rainforest Alliance (RFA), with an ongoing target of 50% of beans used in production to be RFA certified.

The RFA is a rigorous international sustainability program, with its certification symbol recognised around the world as a symbol of environmental, social and economic sustainability.

By 2030 our target is to have 100% of our products ethically certified.

GROWER COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Grinders continue to support local communities with selected single origin release.

In line with our recent Honduras Rosa Miriam Games release, Grinders has continued to support The Tiera Lenca Women’s Coffee Group, a cooperative of 18 female coffee producers in Honduras to build a micro roastery and lab in their community.

This will allow the Group to roast their coffees to taste and improve quality for export, as well as retail coffees locally to directly benefit their families and communities.

High in the mountains of Honduras, a group of remarkable women are rewriting the future of coffee farming. The Tierra Lenca Women’s Cooperative, founded in 2015, brings together indigenous Lenca women with a shared goal: cultivating exceptional coffee while uplifting their families and community.

We all know coffee comes from a bean, but how do you control the difference between a deliciously balanced coffee, versus something that doesn't taste right.
